Securing Gas Supplies to Western Europe
Event date: Wednesday September 2nd 2009
The issue of energy security and supply has risen rapidly up the list of priorities of European policymakers. Securing natural gas supplies from the East is now at the centre of Europe’s post-cold war relationship with Russia, despite the fact that Russia’s past suspensions of gas supplies to the Ukraine have had adverse consequences for other European states. Increasing dependence could come at a hefty price, but does western Europe have any alternative?, and how much do they have really to fear about being dependant on Russia ?
In this exclusive BritishAmerican Business breakfast briefing organised by our Energy Forum and which marks the beginning of our autumn London events programme, Professor Jonathan Stern of Oxford Energy, will address these crucial issues.
