Over 500 industry leaders to attend
dinner in New York City
New York, NY – October 30, 2002 --
BritishAmerican Business Inc (BritishAmerican Business) will continue its tradition of
honoring outstanding business leaders at its 2002 Transatlantic Business
Awards Dinner – the premier event in the transatlantic business calendar.
This year’s honorees will be Louis V. Gerstner Jr., Chairman of IBM
Corporation, and Sir George Mathewson, Chairman of The Royal Bank of
Scotland Group plc.
Organized annually by BritishAmerican Business, the growing
importance of this Dinner reflects the ever-increasing UK/US business
partnership – still by far the largest between any two countries in the
world.
The Hon William S. Farish, III, US Ambassador
to the UK and Sir Christopher Meyer, UK Ambassador to the US will serve as
Co-Masters of Ceremonies for the dinner; and the lists of Co-Chairs and
the 500-plus guests read like a Who’s Who of transatlantic and global
business.
“This great Dinner reflects BritishAmerican Business’s pivotal
position at the heart of the transatlantic business relationship”, said
Richard Fursland, Chief Executive of BritishAmerican Business. “Its continuing success,
despite the economic environment, reflects the strength of the US/UK
partnership and of our membership base of 1,000 companies.”
At the Dinner, BritishAmerican Business will also present a
special award to Frank G. Zarb, Former Chairman and CEO of the NASD and
the NASDAQ Stock Market Inc, for his leadership of NASDAQ in the United
States and into Europe; and its 2002 Entrepreneurial Awards to Jules B.
Kroll, Executive Chairman of the Board, Kroll Inc. and Lloyd Dorfman,
Chairman & Chief Executive, Travelex PLC.
“We serve hundreds of middle-market companies
as well as the huge multinationals”, said Fursland, “so it is only natural
for us to honor outstanding entrepreneurial achievement”.
