Allen & Overy Strengthens US Securitization Practice with Appointment of Ed De Sear
August 2, 2010, NEW YORK — Allen & Overy LLP today announced that Ed De Sear has joined the New York office as a partner in its International Capital Markets group, significantly bolstering Allen & Overy's U.S. securitization capabilities.
Ed has over 30 years of capital markets and structured finance experience and was one of the pioneers in creating and structuring many of the earliest asset-backed securities transactions.

Ed has consistently been ranked nationally in Band 1 for 'Capital Markets: Securitization' in Chambers USA; he will work alongside partner Lawton Camp to further strengthen the New York securitization practice. He will also collaborate with partner Cathleen McLaughlin, who specializes in securitization transactions in Latin America.

Ed's practice focuses on both the domestic and international asset-backed securities markets. He has closed numerous cross-border and emerging markets securitizations including innovative deals in Latin America and Turkey. His expertise spans a broad range of asset classes such as credit card receivables, dealer floor plan receivables, mutual fund fees, tobacco settlement and quota payments, life settlements, distressed assets, film rights and non-U.S. future flows as well as cross-border securitizations and whole-business securitizations. He has represented issuers, underwriters, commercial paper conduits and credit enhancers.
Ed is a member of the American Bar Association and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Structured Finance. Prior to joining Allen & Overy, Ed was a partner in the New York office of a major law firm. Ed received his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and his AB from Columbia University. He is a member of the Bar of the State of New York.
