June 1, 2017
New York, NY – BritishAmerican Business (BAB), the leading transatlantic business network, in partnership with Arup, Hogan Lovells, Turner & Townsend, Willis Towers Watson, Osborne Clarke, United Airlines, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, will host its third annual Innovation Conference on June 13, 2017 in New York. The conference will bring together leading companies, public officials, and non-profit organizations from both sides of the Atlantic to drive insights for building a resilient future in cities. The Resilient Future: Cities | Finance | People will run from 2:00-7:30 PM at the New York offices of Hogan Lovells.
Experts estimate that by 2050, 70 percent of the world’s population will live in cities, straining infrastructure, supply chains, communication, and the built environment. Panelists will include executives, academics, technologists, and city government. Daniel A. Zarrilli, PE, Senior Director, Climate Policy & Programs, and Chief Resilience Officer in the Office of the Mayor of New York City will deliver the keynote.
“We are proud to bring together the brightest minds to tackle one of the most challenging realities facing our planet: population growth and its impact on our cities,” said Wendy Mendenhall, Managing Director, BritishAmerican Business. “Companies are stepping up in unprecedented ways to help solve economic, social, and environmental challenges in their communities. We’re delighted to convene this conference and appreciate the support and insight of our partners and sponsors.”
Andy Howard, Chairman of the Americas for lead sponsor Arup said, “Arup works closely with cities, infrastructure owners, and large developers around the world to plan and deliver projects that improve urban resilience. New technology, better planning, and strategic investments now can help cities better prepare for the shocks and stresses expected to increase as a result of climate change and increased urbanization. We at Arup are delighted to partner with BritishAmerican Business on the Innovation Conference focused on this critical topic.”
