The Government’s decision to implement the recommendations of the Airports Commission’s Final Report is a commitment to a competitive and prosperous UK economy. In recent years the UK has fallen behind other major global destinations in terms of its ability to provide the global connections needed, especially through a lack of airport capacity. BAB has long been a supporter of increasing airport capacity at Heathrow as the only option that provides the connectivity needed to compete in global markets.
Jeffries Briginshaw, CEO of BritishAmerican Business (BAB) said “We welcome the long overdue decision to expand capacity at Heathrow. This is the right decision for the UK, and will help to grow our transatlantic economic trade links. The UK-US economic relationship is one of the largest and most important in the world, with one trillion dollars in investment and $214 billion in trade each year. While this news is warmly welcomed, Heathrow Expansion plans have previously endured false starts. Final approval and delivery of the new runway must not be delayed any longer.”
