Anthony Catachanas

Founding Partner and Group CEO, Tower Peak Partners

Tony is the firm’s Founding Partner & Group Chief Executive Officer, based in the firm’s London headquarters. He is responsible for the firm’s governance, management, and strategy, as well as origination, transaction negotiation, structuring, and overall company development activities within the executive management team. 

Before Tower Peak, Anthony was a co-Founder and Chief Executive of Victory Hill Capital Partners LLP, a London headquartered private asset investment firm, focused on energy transition investments globally. At Victory Hill, he was responsible for firm governance, management, strategy, and portfolio management of the firm’s £465mn London-listed fund, a FTSE-250 Company (ticker: GSEO LN). Prior to this, he was responsible for international business strategy and private asset investments globally, as well as institutional investment solutions for EMEA, reporting to the EMEA CEO of the Bank. He helped build and develop the real asset investment business of Asset Management One Alternative Investments, the alternative asset management arm of Mizuho Financial Group. He was also a founding principal of Mizuho Bank’s Energy Special Situations Group and was involved in various private capital markets transactions with the investment banking sector. Tony brokered a number of strategic partnerships and investment programmes with large multinational companies such as Marubeni, Itochu, Deutsche Telekom, BP, Shell, Equinor, Evonik, Robert Bosch, Sakhalin Energy, Gazprom, Nissan and Volkswagen. 

Prior to this, he was a Partner at Alpha One Partners LLP in their energy-focused private equity business, where he contributed to building industrial partnerships with global industrial energy groups and built a strategic partnership with TotalEnergies the French energy major, to manage a $200mn investment mandate, focused on conventional energy companies in Europe and North America. 

He also worked for Goldman Sachs as an Executive Director, where he was responsible for financial institutions strategy and strategic relationships with institutional investors across Europe and the United States. Anthony was regularly called to enable business activities across a range of different European markets and financial disciplines, and actively participated in cross-divisional, and multi-disciplinary committees during his tenure. He was also selected for the Pine Street programme, the firm’s leadership development programme. 

Before Goldman Sachs, he worked in both equity and fixed-income derivatives at Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, and ABN AMRO. He began his career as a Statistics Research Analyst in the Directorate General Statistics and later in the Directorate General Market Operations at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Germany. Prior to banking, he spent some time working in the Directorate General for Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, where he worked on the Euromed Trade Agreement, with former Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister and Member of European Parliament, Miguel Angel Moratinos.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Management & Business Administration from Henley Business School at Reading University, a Masters in Global Politics from the University of Southampton, and an MBA from the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. Tony is a Member of the UK CFA Institute. He is also a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers a City of London Livery Company. In 2023, Tony was nominated to become a Fellow of the Energy Institute, for his contributions to the energy industry globally in a capacity of entrepreneur and financier. He has been a financial industry Guest Speaker and Lecturer since 2016 at the Judge School of Business at the University of Cambridge, where he teaches and speaks to both MBA and Masters in Finance cohorts.
