For its annual Trade and Geopolitics update, BAB, in partnership with the AIG Global Trade Series, brought together a leading panel of global trade experts to discuss some of the most pressing developments in geopolitics and global trade taking shape in the coming months.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the WTO, has described the future of international trade as one of ‘re-globalization,’ not ‘de-globalization’. As we enter 2023, this seems to be an optimistic outlook as businesses and government continue to face geopolitical uncertainty, a war in Ukraine, and a challenging economic outlook.

At the same time, international trade has become more important than ever in addressing the immediate challenges of climate change, capitalizing on the digital transformation and building strong, resilient economies across the globe.

We reflected on developments in 2022, while also looking ahead to expected defining issues of the global trading landscape in 2023.
