BritishAmerican Business (BAB), the leading transatlantic trade organisation welcomes the state visit of President Trump that begins this evening. Speaking on behalf of its members, BAB CEO Duncan Edwards said:

“The friendship between the US and the UK is the single most important relationship in the developed world whether measured by its security, military and intelligence partnership, or the sheer scale of the trade and investment commitments; good relations between the US and UK are crucial.

“The visit is accompanied by a number of important announcements including a new civil nuclear power partnership, major investments in the UK’s tech infrastructure and continued commitments from major US financial institutions. This is a continuation of a long-term pattern of investment across the Atlantic by US and UK companies in each other’s markets and will be welcomed by BAB members.

“As ever there is more that can be done to ensure that US investors continue to choose the UK as their preferred investment destination and to complete the negotiation of the Economic Prosperity Deal, but for now we should welcome the President and the genuine affection that he has for the UK.”
