Claire Nilson
Counsel, Head of Global Mobility, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP
Claire D. Nilson is Counsel in the London, UK office of Faegre Drinker. She is invited to speak regularly at international conferences and is a known author in the field of Immigration & Global Mobility who is often quoted in the international press.
Claire is the 2025 runner-up for the IEL Award of Global Mobility Lawyer of the Year, as well as a prior runner-up for the FEM EMMA Award of Global Mobility Professional of the Year (an award for which she has been shortlisted an unprecedented seven times). She has also been nominated in the field of immigration law for inclusion in Lexology Index (f/k/a Who’s Who Legal) every year since 2011.
Claire Nilson helps businesses strategically to move their employees across borders. Claire is qualified as a lawyer in three jurisdictions: New York (USA); England & Wales; and Trinidad & Tobago. She has lived and practiced immigration law in all three of the countries where she is qualified.
U.S. Immigration.
On U.S. immigration matters, Claire advises both corporate and private clients particularly on business, employment and consular processing issues. With experience working with numerous U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide, Claire offers assistance on matters including filing visa applications, briefing applicants on local procedures and preparing waiver applications.
UK Immigration
In the United Kingdom, Claire assists companies with their sponsorship of migrants who are skilled workers and intracompany transfers (formerly known as Tier 2) pursuant to the points-based system, as well as advising on sponsor licence applications, the maintenance of sponsor licences and ongoing employer compliance.
Global Mobility
In the field of global mobility, Claire has experience advising and assisting in and out of many different countries on behalf of clients across industries worldwide.
