Emanuel Adam, Director of Policy & Trade Comments on Signing of UK-USA Mutual Recognition Agreements

“The two mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) signed by the UK and US Governments yesterday, covering telecom equipment, electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) for information and communications technology products, pharmaceutical good manufacturing practice (GMP) inspections, and marine equipment, are very welcome.

The transatlantic business community was a strong advocate for those MRA’s when they were established with the EU, particularly around pharmaceutical GMP inspections; in that context we had called for the replication of these provisions in a UK-US context.

We as a British-American business community believe that the transatlantic economic relationship provides an anchor of stability and strength, particularly as the UK prepares to leave the EU. The MRAs signed last night help to ensure that this remains the case.”
