Dr. Elliott Richelson

Refresh Mental Health, Mayo Clinic

Dr. Richelson received his M.D. degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in psychiatry at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. He is a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in clinical and basic neuropsychopharmacology. In 2014 he retired from full-time work at Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research as the Donald and Lucy Dayton Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology and in the Department of Pharmacology. He was also a Distinguished Investigator, Mayo Foundation. Dr. Richelson has published over 200 original research articles and more than 130 review articles in basic science and in clinical medical journals. He is also co-inventor on a multitude of US and International Patents that involve new chemical entities. He has received numerous awards and professional recognitions, including being listed in Best Doctors in America since 2003; and being a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is past president and past treasurer of the Society of Biological Psychiatry. Since May 2020, Dr. Richelson has been Chief Medical Officer for Refresh Mental Health (www.refreshmh.com), with headquarters in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He also applies his expertise in neuropsychopharmacology to patient care at a private practice clinic in Jacksonville Beach, Florida (Comprehensive MedPsych Systems, a Refresh Mental Health clinic) and Mayo Clinic Florida, Jacksonville, Florida.
