As the world continues to address the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen healthcare disparities magnify over the last year of crisis. Marginalized communities and racial minority populations are already at higher risk when it comes to health, and the pandemic has only exacerbated these inequities in terms of treatments and access to healthcare.

BAB & Tata Consultancy Services brings together industry leaders to address this ongoing challenge in health, and explore the question of the role that technology can play to bolster reliable, safe, and equitable access to healthcare, preventative measures, and treatment.

How can innovative emerging technologies – such as cloud, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence – be leveraged safely to address these inequities? How can new treatment tools and techniques enhance health awareness and education for marginalized populations?

Breakout Rooms

Within the last few years there has been an explosion in the digital mental health marketplace, with various tools available to those who wish to improve their mental health. While there is a growing number of resources available and the de-stigmatization of mental health issues, gaps remain in who is able to access these supports. This breakout room will explore questions of equity in mental healthcare, and whether technology can be a solution to equalize and mainstream access to care.

Session 3: Access to Healthcare

Access to healthcare is dependent on many factors including geography, gender, race, and much more. Technology has helped to redistribute access among populations where it otherwise lacks, but gaps do still remain. This breakout room will be a space to explore topics and questions focused on understanding uneven access to healthcare within marginalized communities, and how technology can be a tool to bridge the access gap to create positive health outcomes.
